Feelin' Good & Foolin' Around: Comedy Cinema Night
Kick off the weekend with an unforgettable night of comedy, cinema, and community.
AVL Film is thrilled to partner with Carrboro Film Fest to bring six outstanding regional comedy shorts to Asheville from filmmakers traveling from Atlanta, Wilmington, Raleigh, and beyond. This playful collection spans comedy, romance, and the wonderfully unexpected.
Whether it's a buddy-heist adventure, a shy aspiring dominatrix, or a sweet bicycle love story, these films are sure to deliver plenty of laughs, a few squirms, and maybe even a tear or two. 🎞️ 😂
Before the screening, enjoy live music by Nicholas Colavito (81 Drifters), an improv performance by Dad Bod, and after the films, stick around for an in-person Q&A with several of the featured filmmakers.
Whether you're a filmmaker or simply love discovering great stories, this is your chance to laugh, connect, and celebrate the incredible creative talent coming out of the Southeast.
Feeling inspired after Friday night's screening?
Join us the very next morning - July 25th - for a hands-on workshop called Narrative Short Films: From Script to Festival
Award-winning filmmakers Erika Arlee (Honey Head Films) and Madison Hatfield (Anonymous Content) will walk you through the entire filmmaking journey from writing your script and producing your film to directing actors, navigating the festival circuit, and finding your audience.
Hosted by Darryl Jones of High Dive Studio, this intimate workshop is designed for filmmakers at every stage of their journey. Learn key insights on how to write, produce, direct and promote narrative shorts, including where to find your audience. No matter your experience, this workshop is designed to empower filmmakers of all levels to not just dream their film– but to build their film.
